Yesterday, our Vice President, Bro. Sharif bin Ahmad had meeting with several departments in IIUM Kuantan to lighten up several issues. This is the outcome from the meetings:

1. Replacement of tables & chairs at CF Bro Cafe: Mdm Haliza (FFSD) apologizes as the promised replacement for tables and chairs at CF Bro cafe had been delayed due to some technical matters. The budget has been approved and the new due date for replacement of the tables and chairs is by January 2012.

2. Bus stops at IIUM: We requested from Development of IIUM to build 15 bus stops at IIUM. Alhamdulillah, from 15, 8 were approved. The location will be announced later.

3. Ustaz Azhar Idrus: The approval letter to invite Ustaz Azhar Idrus to come to IIUM has been approved by our Campus Director, Prof. Kamaruzzaman Wan Su. Now, we have to arrange a proper date & time with Ustaz Azhar for him to come to IIUM. We will announced later the date.

4. The progress of installing RO water: still searching for the right tender. We requested FFSD to solve this matter as soon as possible until by next semester. For students, please be patient.

5. Loan for students who wants to get married: IIUM can give loan up to RM1000 for one person. If both couples are the students from IIUM, they can have up to RM2000. Just for first-time married.

6. Increment of food price: We have informed FFSD reagrding this matter. Unfortunately, we don't have enough evidence to accused the operator. You can always cooperate with "FOOD SQUAD MAHALLAH MAIMUNAH" to prepare a report with evidence. Noted that those operator is still in 6 month of trial (end by this March). So, give your feedback as soon as you can before the long tender will be given.

7. Green Campaign: Biodegradable food packaging has been proposed and FFSD are welcoming this idea and ready to give budget and stuffs. But this motion has to come from student itself. (The cost for one biodegradable food package is about RM0.20 while the ordinary polysterene is about RM0.05) If any clubs or society, wants to help us on this matter, please do contact us.

8. Koperasi Siswa (KOSISWA): We will proposed to establish a student's shop. There are 2 lots at new OSC building that can allocate any shops tender that can be operate there. We want to hear from yourself, what would be a demanding shop for students to be put at new OSC building. Feel free to drop your comments below.

Maybe some of you are wondering what this group is all about, right?

'Geng Aokme' is a one new group under Public Relation Secretariat of SRC. 'Aokme' is the ligation of words "Awok" + "Semua" ('Awok semua' is popular term used by Pahang citizens to acknowledge 'us') which indicates the friendliness of this group to reach out to the society in Pahang state.

The main objective of this group's establishment is to create an alternative for students to reach out to the society outside the campus in area of Pahang. The methodology is simple. They are trying to build bond between IIUM students & society in a simple manner that Islam teaches us.

The first trip was held on 20th November, where we reach out to the society at the East Coat Mall & Berjaya Megamall, Kuantan. 3 simple method: Smile, Sapa and Salam.

CAMPRO v.3 2011 is officially launched

Opening Ceremony of CAMPRO v.3 2011 is the first event of Campus Dakwah Project that held on 22 Dzulhijjah 1432, 19 Nov. Together with that event, talk show entitled “I’m Rock, I’m Ok” was aslo been conducted. The programme started at 8.45pm ended at 11.00pm and the response from the audience was very great. The audience were vary including IIUM students, staffs and also invited audience from other campus.

It was organized by Mahallah Representatives Council (MRC) Talhah. Brother Fathi Salleh, 2nd year Bioscience students acts as Programme Manager of the talk show. The events start with welcoming speech from Programme Manager of CAMPRO, brother Ahmad Syahid Ibrahim, 3rd year medic student. Opening Ceremony of CAMPRO v.3 2011 and the talk show was officiated by Prof Dr Kamaruzzaman Wan Su, Campus Director of IIUM kuantan Campus, at Grand Hall of Administration Building of IIUM Kuantan.

The talk show of “I’m Rock, I’m Ok” was succesfully delivered by invited speaker, Ustaz Mansor Sulaiman and Shamrizal Saleh. Ustaz Mansor sulaiman is the lecturer of University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) while Shamrizal Saleh or popularly known as Sham Kamikaze is an artist. The moderator for the talk show is brother Helmi Hamdan, 3rd year pharmacy student.

There are 3 sessions of the talk show, started with questions from the moderator to the panel continue with question and answer session. The audience had the chance to ask questions to the invited speaker. From the talk show, it can be wrapped up that entertainment is not wrong in Islam because it is naturally have in each person or fitrah that human look to. As a good muslim, it is the duty for each of us to use our religion, Islam, to cope with that fitrah. The talk show ended with astonishing performance from brother Sham Kamikaze.

The CAMPRO will be run for 3 weeks starting last night (19 Nov- 11 Dec) and divided into 3 themes:

Week 1 : Entertainment in Islam

Week 2 : Islamic Financial

Week 3 : Ummatic Concern

Tears of Palestinians Night was the next programme that was held last night at Main Auditorium Kuliyyah of Medicine that is organized by Medical Students Council (MSC).

Next programme is Dakwah Tube Competition (D-Tube), that will be held on 25 November at Lecture Hall 1, KAHS at 8.00pm. Organized by Nurss. Special appearance by Imam Muda Nuri as judge.

IIUM Kuantan against Elton John's concert

On 19th November 2011, SRC IIUM Kuantan Campus, representing the whole IIUM community, had sent a memorandum of objection letter to JAIP (Jabatan Agama Islam Pahang) and Secretary of Minister of Pahang regarding Elton John's concert that planned to be held on 22nd November at Genting Highland.

The content of the letter is as shown below:

We hope necessary actions will be taken by the responsible authorities to prevent this from happening. If we realize, the social illness in our country is becoming worst everyday. As a responsible citizen of our own country, and also a responsible Muslim, we must protect our young generation from being affected by negative influences that had been shown by cultures which clearly transgressed with the way of Islam.

CAMPRO v.3 2011

CAMPRO is an annual event organized by SRC (mainly under Spirituality & Islamization Secretariat) and co-organized with MRC, Kulliyyah Based Society, and Clubs in IIUM Kuantan Campus. The objective of this program is to nurture the IIUM community and citizens of Kuantan about the importance of dakwah in our daily life and in the same time to educate them about the beauty of Islam itself.

SENATE HALL, ADMIN BUILDING, IIUM KUANTAN CAMPUS.

1) Any plans to have International Students Division (ISD) in Kuantan?

Admin will try to have an ISD officer in Kuantan, but for the time being, Bro. Halim is in charge of immigration issues.
International students’ visas are currently handled by Br. Halim (transportation dept.) Students with any visa-related matters can directly liaise with him.
A budget for programs has been allocated. Use same procedures as any other societies. Officer-in-charge post in Kuantan is yet to be filled.

2) Theft cases in Mahallah

The security division have taken several steps to overcome theft cases such as:

Appointment of security guards to perform rounds around all Mahallat every night.
Checking of rooms at ground floor level of each Mahallah and reminding students to lock the doors and windows.
Announcement-making regarding the safety of students and Mahallah are being made every night.
To paste Security Hotline sticker at each room in Mahallah. This hotline number can be used if any emergency cases occur.
Immediate spot check right after any theft case happens.

Admin will discuss to install window nets at the ground floor rooms and fence at each Mahallah block. If possible, Prof. Nik suggested window grills of each room on the ground floor to be changed. (to be monitored)
Students are encouraged to protect their personal belongings by locking their rooms, lockers and windows especially at night and when leaving their rooms. Security hotline will be pasted on each room’s door.
Report if any security officer are not doing his/her job.
Form a theft squad for each Mahallah.
Run a security campaign encouraging students to lock their doors and windows. PIC: Aminah & Fauzan

3) Suggestion to block the road behind Mahallah building from brothers

This area is forbidden for brothers. Enforcements will be made after this.
To paste a signage to inform that brothers are not allowed to enter the area.
Action will be taken if any cases reported. Call Security Hotline: 09-5716555.
To place potted plants at the deadly curve behind Mahallah Maimunah.
Bumper and mirrors: Awaiting budget from IIUM Development.

4) Can the baseline of the compound fee be reduced?

The Kuantan Campus Administration has no power to reduce the baseline compound fee because it has been stated by higher authority in Gombak Campus. An appeal can be made to request a reduction from the respective admin in 40 days after the compound is given.
According to the guideline, the compound fee is allowed to be reduced until 50% of the original fee.
Successfully addressed the matter to security for traffic offences and Mahallah management for Mahallah offences. Mahallat have guidelines for electrical items because the electrical power that can be occupied by the sockets are limited.

5) Explanation regarding the usage of Banquet Hall and other halls in Admin Building

In the University Guideline, the admin building can only be booked for university programs or events at national and international levels, regardless whether they are organized by students or staff.
In addition, any event should end by 5 p.m.
Nature of any event should be seminar or talk-based.
It is due to limited skilled technicians to operate the equipment and PA system.

6) Roads in front of Mahallah Maimunah, CF Sister, Mahallah Talhah and CF Brother (one way street)

The implementation of one way street will start on 1st Jan. 2012.
IIUM Development is trying to prepare the road markings (IP) for parking and also road signage.

7 )Water cooler and Reverse Osmosis water maintenance

Mahallah Maimunah sent a proposal to improve water cooler & RO water under their water cooler squad.
Food Service Department has asked other Mahallat (Tabari & Talhah) to send proposals as well for further improvement.
IIUM Properties is willing to repair only minor damages of water cooler & RO water.

8) PA system

Talhah’s office had hired a company to evaluate the PA sytem at the Mahallah. The PA system was found out to be malfunctioned.
Installing a new PA system requires a high cost. Deputy Rector, Prof. Nik will discuss with the principals for budget allocation.

9) Mahallah Maintenance

Students should fill in the report form to enable Mahallah Office forwarding any issue to IIUM Properties.
It usually takes one day for IIUM Properties to take action.

10) TV Room

In progress.
The venue will be the store room beside Mahallah Talhah Office. The authorities are relocating this facility.

11) Mahallah & Kulliyyah maintenance

Submit a written report for actions to be taken.
Toilet maintenance must include students’ attitude as well. They too are responsible for maintaining the university’s properties and facilities.

12) IIUM Development to cater Tabari’s problem

Uncovered drain holes
Cloth-drying areas
Grill for window panels

13) International food

Short term: All cafe operators have been asked to prepare western food.
Long term: Miss Hasna will conduct a survey amongst International students for suitable foods that are to be prepared.
International food will also be provided at the café of Kulliyyah of Science as there are many international students there.

14) Cafe renovation

Renovation is in progress. All old chairs are being removed to the area beneath cafes.
The proposal and budget have been approved. The renovation is estimated to be completed by the end of 2011.

15) Clinic is closed earlier than it should be

Due to unavailability of administrative officers, the clinic staffs need to attend function/meeting/seminar at times. Prior to clinic closure, clinic authority will paste a notice.

16) 24-hour clinic

Limited number of staff.
Currently, the clinic has 1 driver, 2 M.O’s, 2 staff nurses, 1 assistant pharmacist.
SRC needs to write a proposal for extension of consultation hours. PIC: Aminah

17) Ambulance malfunction

Currently, security can drive the ambulance for emergency cases if the clinic is closed.
Students should know the flow chart of emergency cases, e.g. call a designated fellow first.
There are specific criteria of cases that enable student to use the ambulance. However, the clinic has entertained all types of request to date.
Suggestion from Dr. Norlita: Every student must have the security hotline number. The schedule for fellows on duty should be updated monthly in the security office for reference.

18) Clinic break at 10 a.m. (recess time)

This rule was implemented since there was only one M.O. Recently, the clinic added another M.O.
Previously, the M.O. had her break and does administrative work at 10 a.m. Students should be considerate regarding this matter.
Suggestion: Clinic will close for break at 9 a.m. - 9.30 a.m. or at another time to allow students to come during their recess.
Since the clinic now has two M.O’s, this rule can be changed.
Clinic is trying to merge with Family Medicine Department of KOM. If it is successful, clinic will have more M.O’s to cater to students.
If any student arrives at almost 5 p.m. and there are many patients waiting, the student needs to be considerate and take counter medication for the time being (except for emergency cases).

19) Sports complex

Schedule seems biased to staff.
Actually there is a mistake in the schedule. It should be stated as ‘male’ instead of ‘brothers & staff’.
The schedule is difficult to arrange due to high demand from students and staffs. They also have to consider skill classes. The pool cannot be divided into 2 parts as there are many students who are involved in the classes.
Suggestion: Try to find the balance in arranging the schedule.
On Sunday, the pool will be under maintenance.
Indoor Games Center in CF Sister should be exclusively under Mahallah Maimunah Office. It should be opened to sisters only because it is near to sister’s TV area and brothers usually come until late night.
Limited staff allocated under sports and recreation division.

20) Welfare cases

Khairat Kematian: RM1000 to be given if one parent passed away.
Students’ Affair Officers will have monthly meetings regarding ‘Khairat Kematian’ cases.
For poor & needy students, they will be given RM500 per study period.
The administrative officers are trying to post the ‘Welfare Fund Criteria’ at strategic boards for acknowledgement of the students and in the official website.

Mahallah Update

Bro. Kamal Amar (SRC Welfare) had an opportunity to meet Ust. Ali yesterday, these are some info that we would like to share:

For brothers final year who wish to stay in Mahallah, they will be place in at-Tabari or Talhah IM2.
IM6 house will be reserved for Post-Graduate student and others will be rental for RM500/month.
Roommate arrangements in Mahallah Talhah are still the same as before (not changes) but there is a rearrangement of roommate for Mahallah Maimunah. Please check the new room/roommate at the respective Mahallah office.
Mahallah at-Tabari will be fully occupied by new students applicants. 600 students, 2 block facing the main road is for Sisters, there will be a fence separate it from Brother`s block. The new main gate will be construct for Sister facing Kompleks Dagangan Mahkota. Brother will be using the old main gate.

Hope this info will be beneficial for all Mahallah`s residents.

1. Create your GOAL (short & long term) for Ramadhan! Write it down and imagine this is your last Ramadhan.
2. Have your 'Ramadhan diary' or 'notebook' that contains your PERFORMANCE during Ramadhan that includes intelectual, physical, emotional & spiritual.
3. Go in details every aspect you aim to accomplish. E.g.: 1 juz Qur'an per day, Qiyamullail, Sadaqah, HablumminAllah & Hablumminannas.
4. Re-Check your goal everyday and boost your spirit!

Venue : Perkarangan Masjid Saidina Ali bin Abi Talib, Kampung Bukit Sekilau, Kuantan.
Organizer : JKKK Bukit Sekilau in collaboration with Jabatan Agama Islam Pahang (JAIP), Masjid Bukit Sekilau and Belia 4B.

They have requested for 40 students to join the talk, gotong royong and golden age home visit. Breakfast and lunch are provided. Whoever have time and interested to participate, kindly contact 013 2775933 before 19th July 2011.

Meeting on Traffic Flow at Mahallah Talhah & Maimunah inside campus

On 11 July 2011,there was a meeting involving Tn Hj Azmi (Director of Administration IIUM Kuantan), Principal of Mahallah Talhah & Maimunah, President of MRC Talhah & Maimunah, Representative from SRC, and Security Unit. The meeting is basically regarding changes of traffic flow near both Mahallah inside campus.

Thus, from the meeting several outcomes were made.

1. One way traffic flow will be implemented starting this September. It consists area from T1 until junction to parking lot at Mahallah Maimunah. The new traffic flow is been made because; to accomodate parking lot since the increment of cars at Mahallah area and to avoid congestion of traffic flow.

2. Several signage, 'bumping' & mirror (near selekoh at M5) will be made.

3. Update Mahallah development progress

At Tabari:
a. Installment of compartment and table lamps are now in progress.
b. WiFi & TV will be installed soon.
c. Clothes hanger also will be installed soon.
d. Cafe: the meeting is still ongoing.

IM2:
a. Toilet problem has been fixed.
b. PA system for musolla & TV will be provided soon.

Note: Students are advised to take care of IIUM belongings properly.

Maimunah:
a. Photocopy centre: Just got a room at Mahallah Maimunah (near K-Shop between study room and clinic) and this shop will be run by Entreprenuer Bureau MRC Maimunah.
b. K-Shop Maimunah will be open during lunch hour also (1.00pm - 2.00pm) to make sure students get the service when needed.

4. Update IIUM

a. Indoor Game Centre (IGC) at CF Sis: Limit hour usage (esp for brothers) is until 10.30pm only. Please observe also the cleanliness of the area.
b. Sports Complex will be ready by this new semester, inshaAllah.

5. Update on newly intake students for sisters: Some will be located at 2 block near at-Tabari (facing the main road). But the final decision is to be made later.
The proposal for new Mahallah (5000 beds) has been approved but the construction is not started yet.

We would like to thank to the administration of IIUM for inviting us (students) to be involved and participated in the meeting. We hope this kind of meeting which involving students and administration, will be always organized so that we can share ideas and views on several matters.

I. Mahallah At-Tabari

Ventilation problem and solution

1. To change fix panel window glass to air lourves and add ventilation fan for each room.

- 2 months to complete (From 21st June 2011 until 20th August 2011)

Meeting with President of IIUM

On 6th of June 2011, our SRC's members (Kuantan & Gombak) and also representatives from Kulliyyah-Based-Society & Clubs from Gombak, are been given the opportunity to meet with the President of IIUM, Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan which are also a Chief Secretary to the government of Malaysia.

The meeting was held in Putrajaya and held for about 1 hour. Several crucial matters been discussed during that meeting. First, the president of SRC, Bro. Iqbal, give the speech and also risen the problems faced by the IIUM Gombak students. Plus, the issue on 'short revision period' time is also being arise. Next, the Vice President 1, Bro. Sharif, speaks up representatives from Kuantan to rise the issues in IIUM Kuantan. Mostly it is about the poor condition of Mahallah At-Tabari and IM2 and also about the JPA grades.

Alhamdulillah, Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan looks forward for this matter. He replied to our problems (IIUM Kuantan) through his email to the VP1, Bro. Sharif Ahmad.

Regarding to the Mahallah problems, Director of Development Division of IIUM, Ir. Shaffei bin Mohamad has contacted VP1 to proposed the solution to this problem. Meanwhile, regarding the JPA grades, it still been discussed.

[1] Alhamdulillah, on 10th May 2011 (Tuesday), SRC Exco members 2010/2011 managed to arrange a meeting with Prof. Dr. Nik Ahmad Kamal Nik Mahmod (DRSA) and Mdm. Zuraida (Transportation Unit).

[2] Current transportation fee is Rm25 per semester will be increased to Rm50 per semester starting semester 1, 2011/2012. In other words, Rm100 per year. You may refer to http://www3.iium.edu.my/finance/fee_struc.php?nav=1

Hope all of you are in a good health. Just want to update from SRC.

1. The date for beginning of short semester is on 10th May 2011. Before this the date stated on AnR, short semester will begin on 10th May due to Wesak Day which stated 9th May (Monday). Eventually, Wesak day is on 17th May. Not 9th May. We confirmed with Prof Nik Ahmad Kamal. Thus, AnR proceed with the previous stated date, 10th May 2011 (Tuesday) to start the short semester.

2. Regarding the starting date of semester 1 2011/2012, some confusion happens when AnR previously stated it is on 21st of September 2011 (some of you might encounter this info). But, it has been corrected. Thus, the begining lectures date for semester 1 2011/2012 is on 12th September 2011.

3. Regarding new fees structure issue. We were informed that meeting with Madam Zuraida (Student Services Department) on Wednesday (4/5) had been delayed to Friday (6/5). After some preparations on behalf of SRC, again, the meeting had been delayed. So far, we are waiting for the meeting.

Meeting with YB Fuziah Salleh (MP Kuantan)

On 10th of April 2011, SRC IIUM Kuantan were having a meeting with special guests, YB Hjh Fuziah Salleh with her husband, Dr Russly Abdul Rahman regarding Lynas issue. YB Fuziah is Member of Parliament represent of Kuantan. She also the initiator and the person who work hard to oppose the establishment of Lynas Corp factory at Gebeng.

Throughout this meeting, YB shown figures and facts about Lynas and others facts about radioactive waste. Several outcome from the meeting, YB shown her interest in collaborating with students to involve in the programme to give awareness to the citizen members of Kuantan generally about this issue.

Fast facts:
- Lynas is an Australian Company (100%) and not paying the government tax
- AELB claims that the radioactive waste is safe below the safety level
- AELB used the chinese safety standard (not British, America nor Australia safety standard)
- Bukit Merah case produced waste which is Amang that highly radioactive; but different case in Kuantan, where Thorium (Th) will be produced as a waste.
- Thorium doesn't been stated as a waste in the proposal as the waste been stated generally.
- Thorium have 14.05 billion of years of half life. It decays slowly and emitting alpha particle. It is carcinogenic.

Nowadays, this issue had become huge in the media and currently the government are revising back the proposal. We honoured and thanked to the YB Fuziah Salleh and her husband for lending a precious time to meet and discuss with us.

An Evening with Dato' Saifuddin Abdullah

5th April 2011, Tuesday.

Prior to our meeting, Dato' Saifuddin had a meeting regarding Halal Research Centre that might be built in Temerloh which is still on-going discussion. Below are some issues that we discussed that evening;

1. JPA grade from B to A

a. Dato’ thought it’s a relevance issue to be raised by JPA scholarship holders from IIUM Kuantan. However, students have to state reasons and it is more convincing to include facts & figures. For instance, the comparison of food prices between grades A & B JPA standard (eg. Klang Valley and Kuantan). He also told us to look into criteria set up by JPA to determine grade of scholarships and that might be some flexibility there.

2. Hostel accommodation in HoSAS.

a. Medical & nursing students, not only from IIUM have to share rental houses with many students in a single house. That’s not so comfortable for the students. Dato’ suggested LPP to build an apartment on their land near HoSAS. The apartment is an alternative way to students and the rental price should be reasonable for Universities or students themselves (as the land is under government properties). This suggestion will be forwarded to LPP.

3. The rare earth issue

a. We as SRC and also health-based students voiced out our concern about the rare earth issue that predicted to cause health problem in the future like Bukit Merah issue.

b. Dato’ didn’t give any solid stand about this. He asked us to hear from both parties that support and also oppose Lynas. It is students’ role to evaluate their arguments.

4. Students parliament (Parlimen Mahasiswa)

a. It is recently organized by USM as students parliament is stated in their constituency. The parliament consists of SRC, MRC and representatives from other societies and clubs.

b. Dato' express his support towards this implementation.

5. Social problems

a. We asked about students and government role to overcome social problems like drug addicts & etc.

b. Dato' stated there are 5 parts play significant role to overcome this. The first one is education which is already implemented like Agensi Dadah Kebangsaan. He stressed that actually we're lacking the 'intervention' part. It is a pre-stage of relationship between drug dealer and the future drug addict. we are not fully equipped with the skills (eg. to notice depression among friends that can make them turn into drug). Dato' suggested students to play more role in this 'intervention' part.

6. Malaysian status to international intellectuals.

a. Malaysia lost a quiet of Malaysian intellectuals whom prefer to migrate to other countries. Talent Corporation was organized to solve this loop hole.

b. After a quit long explanation, Dato’ asked us to refer to this organization regarding her question.

We ended our meeting around 6.30 pm. We are really appreciate his willingness to meet us as representative of IIUM students. This meeting meant a lot to all of us and became a booster for us to serve at the best we can. For your information, the dialogue between Mahallah Maimunah residents and admins was done in the same time with this meeting. We are really sorry because cannot attend within the whole dialogue process.

Mahallah Evacuation during Vacation

Assalamu'alaikum WBT.

To all residents of Mahallah Talhah, Maimunah & At-Tabari. Regarding the issue that students are to evacuate the Mahallah by the end of this semester, I'm afraid the information is true. I've went to consult with Br. Zamri today (Tuesday, 22nd March 2011) and this is the info that I get;

1) The evacuation was ordered by Gombak campus for Kuantan campus to endorse

2) All mahallah management (Talhah, Maimunah & At-Tabari) have agreed to proceed

3) Still waiting for the endorsement from the upper management (director)

4) The official notice will be issued by next week

5) Mahallah will provide storage rooms

6) Mahallah will NOT provide transportation for the students to move their belongings. It is under the students' own initiative

These are the rationale why they want to evacuate:

1) For maintainance.

2) To standardize the residents in each block. (the rationale for this is to save electricity and water. if the block residents are from the same course, they will have the same holiday and the mahallah could save a lot of power sources during that time)

3) To make inventory.

For your information, this system has been endorsed in Gombak from the beginning and Kuantan will follow the trend. However, we will not do it as drastic as Gombak that the students will have to evacuate every semester. We will only have to evacuate for each academic year (for long semester breaks).

We do apologize for the inconvenience but there is nothing to be done to reverse the process. We could just try to bear with the change and adapt. Change is inevitable. It is part of life especially as a student.

If there are any suggestions from the students to the mahallah management, SRC or MRC to help the students through this process, you are welcome to do so.

Chicken Price & Security Issues

Dear students,

1. Be alert! Due to increase of chicken price nowadays, it has also affects the price of Nasi Ayam, Nasi beriani & other chicken-based food at Cafe Lot 4. Not only that, IIUM Gombak also faces the same problem. At Kuantan, the price of chicken increases from RM6/kg to RM8++/kg. It is a national issue that happens around our country.

News on 21^st March 2011 stated that the chicken price will eventually going back to the normal price starting on this April, said Datuk Seri Noh Omar, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry. (Berita Harian)

2. On 18th of March 2011, our Public Relation officer personally met the police officer at the new Indera Mahkota Police Station. Many issues were discussed face to face with the officers especially regarding theft issue in and out of the campus.

At the end of our meeting, SRC and PDRM are agree to arrange a dialogue with all students to avoid more theft and security cases from happening again. Insha-Allah SRC is trying our best to organize the dialogue as soon as possible. We expect your cooperation to attend the dialogue especially for those students who are living outside the campus.

This convention was participated by all Students' Representative Council (SRC) Exco Member in nationwide. There are many issues were arisen during this convention. Representatives had shown their ability and good content in every issue was debated. We also have session with Deputy Prime Minister at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC). The issues was debated as follows:

a) 1 Malaysia concept
b) New Economic Model
c) Development at Sabah and Sarawak.
d) Integrity and transparency in governance.
e) Undergraduate students in political party.

For resolution, more than 57% representatives in this convention has supported and agreed that undergraduates students should be given opportunity to involve in political party as member.

Dog problem in campus:

-Some student complaint on many dog roaming around campus.

- This makes them uncomfortable and unsafe especially when go back from class.

SRC Exco Member, Mohd Badiuzzaman already discussed this problem with security unit (SU). According to the answer from SU:

-This problem occurred long time ago. It was arisen by previous tenure of SRC. A lot of methods has been taken include shooting dog and call help from PERHILITAN. However, other dogs come to the campus and form new group. SU have provided contact number if student face this problem again.

Students who find dog in the campus can contact SU immediately:

Motorcycle Post Service:

-Some students need service to post their motorcycle to hometown especially during vacation and beginning of semester

SRC Exco Member, Marlina Bt Mohd Zain had met post management regarding on this matter:

- Pos Malaysia in IIUM Kuantan already had provided this service to all students. Students can liaise directly with Pos Malaysia, IIUM Kuantan Branch to use this service.
